"Mediterranean Beauty & Never-ending Youthfulness"

Cold-pressed Olive Oil
for Beautiful, Healthy Skin

From October to January the olive harvest in Buti, Toscana on the "Strada del Olio" is running at full speed. The extra virgin olive oil won from these olives is among the purest, and specially selected for the production of medipharma cosmetics' olive oil skin care line.  These hills with many ancient oil trees have been traditionally cultivated for 350 years. The older the trees are, the more valuable and rich the olives are: Some of these gnarled trees are over 1,000 years old.  Even today the Buti olive is picked by hand, because mechanical harvesting machines could influence the quality of the oil or damage the tree. From morning until late in the evening the whole family pitches in ensuring that the valuable fruits are picked with special care. The whole process runs at an optimum temperature of 27°C so that valuable ingredients like vitamin E and monounsaturated fatty acids remain unchanged. About seven kilos of olives are necessary to produce one liter of extra virgin olive oil. Only this high-quality olive oil is imported for the production of the olive oil skin care line – which includes our guarantee of origin.

Other than the extra virgin olive oil, natural ingredients like almond, avocado and wheat germ oils, vitamin E and shea butter are used for the olive oil care products. The fresh lemon and spicy olive scent gives it the Mediterranean essence.

Olive oil had been used to treat wounds, heal internal diseases and as a body balsam. In the ancient body culture olive oils were used in skin care and for oral hygiene. It was used as a basis for desirable perfumes;  fragrances of the acacia, iris or jasmine blossoms were added to make it special. Olive oil contains antioxidant ingredients (monophenols, oleuropeine and flavonoids), which bind so-called free radicals – an ideal prerequisite to protect the skin from today's stressful irritations and environmental influences. Recently Japanese researchers have found that olive oil can even reduce the risk of skin cancer caused by UV rays.
